Dior's new collection comments on women in architecture
According to the fashion brand's Instagram, the statuesque clothes from Dior Couture FW19 were making an architectural statement about women acting as collateral figures throughout time. The post says: "Through the centuries, the caryatids ... have come to be a metaphorical illustration of the supporting role women play, both in architecture and society." As V Magazine comments, the collection shows that women aren't supportive beams or decorative sculptures, but "can be the whole goddamn house too".
CITB launches 'fast-track' academy to address skills shortage
The Brickwork Academy has been launched by The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) to help the next generation of bricklayers. It's being introduced in partnership with colleges and employers in the UK.

Construction industry leaders urged to step up diversity approaches
Members of Parliament in Scotland have told construction firms they must improve their approach to tackling longstanding challenges such as skill training, diversity and a general resistance to change. A report from a committee of MSPs says these are among a range of issues that would encourage growth in a sector that employs 147,000 people in Scotland.

The German Development Cooperation held a workshop in Nigeria to get more young women into construction
Deutsche Geselischaft for Internationale Zusammenarbelt (GIZ), organized a workshop in Abeokuta with 100 female attendees. Hans-Ludwig Bruns, Coordinator for Sustainable Economic Development, discussed the gender skills gap in the agriculture and construction sectors, “which are key sectors of the Skills Development for Youth Employment in Nigeria (SKYE)”.
